Sadly our telephone Advice Line service closed on 31st October 2022.
From 1993 EAC provided a unique ‘housing options’ information and advice service to older people, helping them plan ahead to ensure their home was somewhere they could live safely and well into older age.
But the last 7 years have been difficult, as we tried to keep the service going without any public funding. We managed to co-ordinate an emergency volunteer-led operation during Covid, and to boost this a little afterwards thanks to a one-off donation from One Family. But in the end we had no option but to close the telephone service, and focus on maintaining our website and HOOP app.
We continue to do all we can to make it possible to re-open a full service, as there is no other similar national service, and only a handful of local ‘housing options’ services.
However we do recommend the following services which may be able to help you today:
Age UK provides a free, national information and advice service which includes ‘housing options’ advice. This is open 8am – 7pm, 365 days a year. Many local Age UKs also specialise in housing advice.
